Increased screen time creates eye strain and fatigue on our body. Check out these few strategies that can help combat the negative effect of being on "Zoom display" all day.
With little to no in-person meetings, coffee breaks with co-workers, or small-talk with friends, we are more glued to our computer screens than ever. Increased screen time creates eye strain and fatigue on our body, but there are a few strategies that can help combat the negative effect of being on "Zoom display" all day.
Zoom Optional. Not every communication throughout the day needs to be conducted through video chat. While it's a great tool, sometimes an email or phone call is just as efficient and less intense.
Limit your meeting time. Try blocking out time on your schedule to get work done and help reduce the amount of virtual communication you have throughout the day. This also provides the added benefit of focus.
Low-Tech Solutions. Make it a practice to write on paper, a white-board, or print off notes and read. Choosing a physical copy over a digital one can help you better focus and reduce your overall screen time.
Make a Move. Plan time to move throughout the day, such as scheduling 10-minute walks around your neighborhood, or if you're looking to upgrade your home setup, consider getting a sit-to-stand desk.
While we are all ultimately working towards getting back to in-person communication, hopefully, some of these strategies can help make your workday a little less strenuous!
